I’m Jana, a London-based producer and singer, I fuse digital and analogue synthesis with drifting vocal layers, guitars, and programmed drums, turning them into tracks that run the gamut from industrial soundscapes to hypnagogic pop tracks.
On my debut album release, “Was It Real or Was It Just Me?” uncertainty is rife: pop melodies rest atop pitch-bending synths and shoegaze-style guitars, while experimental electronic intros transition into complete songs, driven by barely restrained, saturated drums.
I aimed to infuse this collection of songs with a feeling that everything could unravel at any moment, as the rough, sometimes lo-fi elements hint that the whole thing might just be a dream.
Running at 5 minutes and 20 seconds, my title track gives me time and space for my ideas to unravel. I bagged some brilliant artists for this track: live drums from Rick David (Yuseff Dayes, Alfa Mist, Nala Sinephro) and a beautifully languid guitar solo from Sleepless Nights that pays homage to one of my favorite bands, Opeth.
